Mercedes won the Miss District of Columbia USA 2007 title in a pageant held in early December 2006. This was her fourth attempt at the title, as she placed fourth runner-up in both the 2006 and 2005 events and was a semi-finalist in the 2003 pageant. Lindsey represented District of Columbia in the Miss USA 2007 pageant that was held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 23, 2007.
