Meet Dr. Ellen Rucker, ex-wife of NBA star Vince Carter. Ellen and Vince met at the University of North Carolina in 1995, when Carter was a freshman basketball player and Rucker was a sophomore cheerleader. They graduated from college at the same time, in 1998, although Carter, who jumped to the NBA after his junior year, returned to attend classes in the off season until he completed his degree.
The former couple’s relationship really bloomed when they met again at the wedding of Carter’s former North Carolina teammate and NBA star Antawn Jamison. On July 3rd, 2004, Ellen and Vince tied the knot in Palm Beach Florida.
In 2006, Ellen and Vince filed for divorce, just two years after they were married. They have one daughter together, Kai Michelle Carter, who was born in 2005.
Dr. Ellen Rucker is a doctor of chiropractic medicine and owns Rucker Chiropractic Center in Lancaster, South Carolina. Vince Carter currently plays for the NBA Orlando Magic.
