Gabourey Sidibe said she skipped school (college) that day and used her last $5 to get to the audition. Gabourey beat out more than 400 girls for the role of  Precious.

Update: Gabourey just got cast in the new Showtime series “The Big C” with Laura Linney about a suburban wife and mother with terminal cancer. Gabourey will play one of her smart alleck students! Congratulations to Gabourey!
