Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick went to Capitol Hill on Tuesday to pledge his support for legislation to crack down on supporters of dog fighting.

“I do regret my previous involvement in dogfighting,” Vick said. “When I was in prison, I decided to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.”

The dog fighting law Vick is pushing is called the “Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act,” which would make it a misdemeanor to knowingly attend a dog or cock fight. According to the Humane Society, spectators/supporters generate the bulk of money for the illegal enterprise.

“You take away the profits, you can eliminate the problem,” Vick added.
