Ballerwives.com would like to congratulate Olympian Lia Neal, 17, who swam into the history books as the only second African-American female swimmer to medal in the Olympic Games.
The Brooklyn, New York native swam the third leg on the American women’s freestyle 4×100 relay team that captured a bronze medal.
Not only is Lia only the second African American woman to medal in swimming in Olympic history, she is also the second to make the Olympic team at all.
Neal lives in Brooklyn with her close-knit family who accompanied her to London for the games. Her family stands together with one another in their achievements and like most beautiful black families, she gets constant support from those who love her.
Lia is on an adventure and it’s only the beginning. After the Olympics, she finishes her senior year in high school.
Colleges, like Berkeley, have already expressed interest in her. And she’ll have to decide if she wants to start training for the next Olympics.
Great job Lia! Keep up the great job representing out country.
