Melanie Amaro, 19, won the FOX singing competition “The X Factor” on Thursday night, earning a $5 million dollar contract from Simon Cowell’s Sony Music-owned record label “SyCo” and a starring role in a new commercial from the show sponsor Pepsi.
After being declared the winner, an emotional Amaro dropped to her knees in prayer and wept with joy.
On Wednesday’s live “X-Factor” finale show, contestant Melanie Amaro, who had been tipped by the four “X-Factor” judges to win it all, did just that by performing a powerful rendition of Beyonce’s hit song “Listen.” Amaro also did a duet with R&B singer R. Kelly performing “I Believe I Can Fly.”
Amaro’s stellar performances secured her way to become the 5 million dollar “X-Factor” winner.
