Last night, former Secretary of State Colin Powell shot down right wing republican extremist Shaun Hannnity’s longtime obsession with negatively attacking President Obama over Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers.
Also, Powell, a Republican, explained why he voted for then Senator Obama back in the 2088 presidential election.
During last night’s interview with Powell on his Fox News show, Hannity said that he finds Obama to be “one of the most divisive figures in — that I’ve witnessed in politics today.”
Powell responded: “[T]hat’s a term that’s being used rather freely. I don’t think he’s that divisive an issue.” Powell then asked, “What could have been more divisive than, when President Obama was inaugurated, for a number of Republicans, friends of mine, and a number of commentators to say, ‘We’re going to destroy him. We’re going to destroy him’?”
In this latest installment of “Dinner with Barack,” three lucky winners got a chance to bring a special guest with them to have dinner with President Obama. Cathy and Judy brought their loving husbands and Regina proudly brought her dad.
The President brought a very special guest too: the First Lady.
In Michelle’s first “Dinner With Barack” she talked about her first date with the President and the best thing about being the First Lady.
Over dinner the four couples shared stories about taking care of their families, health care, and the grassroots.
President Obama made a personal plea earlier this morning for all Americans to come together and do some “soul searching” in regards to the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
President Obama said:
“My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. And you know, I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we’re get to the bottom of exactly what happened.”
The investigation into the shooting death of Trayvon Martin has the Justice Department looking at possible civil rights violations and a grand jury considering charges.
